Take Your Music with You: Download Songs To iPhone

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

If you are looking for a great way to listen to your favorite tunes, simply download songs to iPhone. Techno-savvies must be already familiar with how this works, but if this is the first time you actually held an iPhone, do not worry; it really is not that complicated. Do not be overwhelmed with the technical jargons because the process of downloading is not that complex at all.

You have a couple of options to enable you to download songs to iPhone. The first option is to transfer the songs from a CD into your PC system. This is very simple especially if your computer is not more than five years old as it is likely to have features necessary to enable this task with ease. Even if you have an aged computer, copying the music files from the CD to your computer should not be difficult.

Your next option is through the World Wide Web. A word of clarification, though — you cannot directly download songs to iPhone just yet. iPhones are not yet capable of receiving direct downloads from the internet, although, Apple is trying its best to make it possible in the near future. What the internet can do for you for now is to present you with sites where you can be able to download songs from.

People used to download using peer to peer or P2P sites. However, these sites are illegal, and if you insist on using these sites, you will get spyware and a host of viruses as a fitting reward. With other free sites, you get limited download choices, and they are of poor quality.

On the other hand, there are sites that require you to pay a one-time fee to download songs to iPhone. These sites are considerably better and much safer. The quality of downloads is a lot better and there are practically no limits as to how many you can download.

Now that’s decided on, you can then download the songs into your PC and transfer them to your iPhone.

If you choose to go the internet route in order to download songs to iPhone, you will need a high speed internet connection to facilitate faster downloads. There is nothing wrong with using dial-up connection, though. The thing is, downloads are much slower.

Downloading songs can be easy and fun. You can practically download songs to iPhone with a click of the mouse, and with an internet connection.

Acoustic Beginner Guitars

Saturday, November 1st, 2008
by Paul Green

There are a few things to consider before you purchase your new acoustic beginner guitar. If you are able to afford a high-quality guitar, by all means indulge yourself and get it. The price tag may be higher but you will find that the quality will be reflected in the ease of playing and in the tone of the guitar as well.

Two acoustic guitars stand out in the high end beginner guitar category. The Seagull S6 makes a fine acoustic beginner guitar of high quality, that plays well enough to take a novice guitar player well into advanced technique. It is priced in the $400-500 range. Also in this price range is the Washburn D10S. This instrument was ranked as #1 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine in a comparison of guitars under $500. While both guitars represent a significant investment for the starting guitarist, they are both very playable instruments of a quality that is capable of keeping pace with the new player’s ability as it grows for many years.

Excellent choices if you want to spend a bit less include Yamaha’s F310, Takamine’s G-240 and Fender’s DG7. For a rock-bottom price in an acoustic beginner guitar, you will want to look at Epiphone’s DR-100. You’ll have to switch to a more advanced instrument down the road, since it’s only meant for rookies, but you’ll get a really good buy for somewhere between $120 and $150.

Even if you are on a budget, you should try to avoid buying the under $100 guitars you can find at local discount stores. Surprisingly, a cheap, low quality acoustic beginner guitar is actually considered harder to play even by more experienced guitar players. The explanation for this has to do with the fact that they are cheaply made with an overly high action, which means there is too much space between the strings and the fingerboard. Beginners and experts alike find this flaw frustrating.

If you were planning on spending around $100 or less, a second hand acoustic beginner guitar is a good option, you get can a cheap guitar at ebay. One of the benefits would be the guitar having some character. Take for example, two second hand Yamaha F310’s. Try them both out as they will likely have distinctly different sounds. These sounds may even give you some insight on the personality of who owned the guitar before.

People say you should never buy a guitar from someone who’s a jerk. And while there may not actually be any esoteric elements inherent to the personality of a guitar, the way people treat their guitars tends to be a reflection of the way they treat people. A guitar that’s been cared for and treated properly is going to play better than one that hasn’t. So, even though it may sound fine, if you’re just not completely comfortable with the acoustic beginner guitar you’re trying out, find another one.

If you are a beginner and can’t play worth a dime, ask the store associate to play the acoustic beginner guitar you are considering buying. Any sales person at a guitar store will be able to figure out that you would like to actually hear the sound of the acoustic beginner guitar before making a purchase. Who knows, maybe they will be assisting the next great acoustic guitar player!

Q1. Does there have to be an inquest into the death of Diana Princess of Wales?
A1. Yes. Karaoke Songs – Choosing The Best Fit For Your Voice

Friday, October 31st, 2008
by Nellie Hasburn

The biggest decision that any karaoke singer has to make for karaoke is what song they should undertake on stage. There are literally thousands of tracks available with most karaoke sets, so it can be demoralizing looking through the massive book of songs, but if you keep in mind a few tips it will make your night simpler, and allow as much enjoyment as possible.

First, ensure that you choose a karaoke track that suits your voice. Whether it is your first time or 101st time, you have to determine that you can accomplish at least majority of the tones you need. If you have a deep voice, there is no point of picking out music stars like Celine Dion or Whitney Houston, and the same goes for high-pitch voices; Barry White should be out of the question. Alternatively choose karaoke tracks that fit within your vocal range, and that way instead of worrying about if you can hit that challenging note coming up, you will be able to relax and just savor the song.

Selecting the right karaoke song also depends on what you are getting up stage for. If you are with friends, and looking at getting up as a group for a bit of fun, it is prudent to pick out an up-tempo song that befits your mood instead of a dead ballad. If you are a regular, and want to take something a bit more difficult, there is nothing inappropriate in selecting a slower song if you can address it.

If you’re celebrating an adult / older folks birthday with a karaoke party. You need to acknowledge what songs to choose. Do your homework. You don’t want to choose any old karaoke song; you require to choose karaoke music that conjures a feel of nostalgia. Determine what songs were best-selling when the party honoree grew up. Your best bet is to distinguish the top 10 songs of each year or decade and build up your play list round those karaoke tracks.

But a small tip to remember about most karaoke bars is that most individuals are out to have a great time, so picking out a slow and sombre song that does not really fit the ambiance of the room can have sharp outcomes.

In Conclusion, when choosing your karaoke song it is advisable to find a song with a melodic line and words that you are at least familiar with. You do not have to recognise every song you get up stage for off by heart (thats why the TVs are there to aid you) but choosing a karaoke track that you have listened more than once or twice will give you a bit more assurance in singing on stage.

Opera Gloves: History and Fashion

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
by Jim Hofman

Whether you’re a fan of opera or not, the genre itself is often credited with bringing a sense of style and elegance to musical performance. Nowhere is this more evident than the use of opera gloves, a revered fashion accessory for women dating back over 300 years.

If you’ve ever watched an Audrey Hepburn movie, you understand the allure of opera gloves. They provide a demure sense of sophistication and class, a perfect finishing touch for elegant evening wear.

The Particulars

As we know them today, opera gloves are typically about 20 inches in length, designed to reach just below the elbow. Popular since the time of Napoleon, they are most commonly seen at opera or symphony performances. Typically made of special goat skin leather, they are exceptionally soft to the touch.

Just as with most fashion accessories, these gloves have evolved through the years. Some styles reach well above the elbow, while others are slightly shorter than elbow length. Usually white in color, they are often decorated with jeweled fasteners and gold trim. Almost always, they are adorned with decorative stitching across the back of the hand.

Availability and Uses

Opera gloves are available from boutique specialty stores in a wide array of styles and prices. Typically, the average pair runs in excess of $100 or more.

Every few years, these fashionable gloves make a rousing comeback, usually triggered by a memorable performance of one sort or another. In the 1950’s, several glamorous actresses stirred women’s interest in buying a pair, most notably Marilyn Monroe in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. They are also used in retro performance pieces like the stage show and movie “Chicago”, or at costume parties depicting an earlier era.

Most often though, opera gloves are seen, and used, where they began – at the opera. And with a recent surge of popularity for opera performances, it’s likely we’ll see this classic fashion accessory reinvent itself over and over again.

by Christine D

Would you like to karaoke every night, or at least several times per week? Do you enjoy being the one working the karaoke machine? Has your entrepreneurial spirit led you to look for a fun business?

If you answered these questions with a resounding “YES!” then becoming a karaoke DJ may be just the thing you have been searching for! Getting started as a karaoke DJ may be easier than you think, too!

What exactly is involved in starting your own karaoke DJ business?

Most importantly, you need some good quality equipment: a professional level karaoke machine, microphones, speakers, a monitor for the lyrics, a large karaoke music library, speaker stands, and cords. Some clubs have their own speaker system you can plug into. A lot of them now have large television screens, too, so if you have a karaoke machine which utilizes a television to display the lyrics, you don’t have to provide the monitor. So in some locations you can get away without bringing the speakers, speaker stands, or the monitor, but very few clubs provide their own karaoke machine or their own karaoke music.

If you would like to cut down on your expenses, and on the amount of equipment you need to haul in and set up at each gig, a great suggestion is to look into The SongStation Karaoke Machine. This karaoke machine is high quality, and provides a lot of features to simplify your karaoke DJ business:

- It’s small and light, the size of a slim-line DVD player.

- 5 minute set-up: It plugs right into a TV for the monitor, and either uses the television speakers or hooks up to the club’s speakers with ease.

- It includes the largest karaoke song library in the world, with 53,000 titles inbuilt into the system.

Using The SongStation Karaoke Machine would set you up as a professional karaoke DJ right off the bat.

What else do you need besides your karaoke machine to start your business?

A dynamic personality to cheer on the crowd and get them going is a big plus! Also, a good singing voice is an asset, because sometimes it’s YOU who sings the first karaoke song!

You also need business cards with your contact information to help market your business. To get the business started, you want to talk to every club owner you can reach. Places like bowling alleys are also starting to catch the Karaoke bug, and often enjoy setting up one night a week as Karaoke Night. New retail businesses may want to host a Karaoke Night to start bringing in their customers.

Radio stations are candidates, since they host promotional events all the time. Locate your local wedding planners, event planners, party planners. Leave your cards with caterers, florists, wedding photographers, videographers. Even your local churches and school districts may enjoy having a Karaoke Night fundraiser. Party supply houses might let you leave a stack of business cards at their registers. The supply of new leads for your Karaoke DJ business is endless. Everyone loves a good Karaoke Party!

And last, but not least, you can always run the ad: Have Karaoke Machine. Will Travel.

So with a little guts, a little gusto, and a karaoke machine, you can soon be on your way to Karaoke DJ happiness!

How To Have A Fun At Parties With Karaoke Players

Saturday, October 11th, 2008
by Christine D

Are you planning a party any time soon? What’s the one way you can break the ice, get the party rocking, and ensure all your guests go home feeling good?

The answer is with a karaoke player!

Imagine your typical party: People are standing around talking in their little groups. The shy ones are not talking to anyone, and worse, they are not having a good time at all. Others are secretly plotting what they can do to get all the attention. Still others are trying to figure out how to impress that good-looking guy, or hot chick, across the room. Everyone has their own agenda for your party. All in all, there’s not a lot of fun going on. What can you do to liven it up?

Bring on the karaoke player!

Everyone likes karaoke! Turn on your karaoke player, start the first song, and you’ll see that everyone gravitates to your karaoke area with renewed enthusiasm. Give the mic to someone who can belt out a song like there’s no tomorrow! Suddenly everyone is talking and laughing. The shy people are now involved in the action and having fun. The attention seekers have the perfect venue to get all the attention they desire. And those who are out to impress someone now have a great way to do all the impressing they want.

Get some duets going with some would-be couples.

Have a karaoke contest.

Play some karaoke games.

Let everyone have their time in the spotlight.

The end of the evening comes all too fast, and the party ends with new friendships, new closeness, and everyone feeling good. Your guests can’t wait to come back for your next party. And it’s all because of your handy karaoke player!

How did all this happen?

Turning on your karaoke player put some scientific and psychological principles into play that ensured your party was a success.

Firstly, singing releases endorphins. Endorphins are what are known as the “happy hormones”. When these hormones surge through your body, you get a feeling of well-being and happiness. They make you feel good!

Singing also reduces stress and tension, like a party should.

The controls on your karaoke player can adjust the pitch and key of the song, and add the right amount of echo to the voice, that let’s each and every guest sound great every time they step up to the mic.

And lastly, there’s something psychologically pleasing about the music and the singing that draws everyone in — even the shy people! And everyone is doing something fun together.

Add these principles to the fact that everyone’s own personal agenda can be fulfilled, and you have a party to remember! So it’s true! Karaoke players really do bring the fun to parties!
